私の好きなロック歌手の一人であったロバート＝パーマーがパリで心臓発作により客死した。合掌。
多くの人にとっては彼はデュラン＝デュランのメンバーと共に結成し、シックのバーナード＝エドワーズ（この人、東京で死去している）がプロデュースした「パワー・ステーション」というバンドのボーカルだった、ということで有名なのだろうけど、私は彼のソロアルバムも結構好きだった。
ギターをバリバリに効かせた「恋におぼれて(Addicted to Love）」なんてロックのヒットもあったが、私は彼のジャズっぽい歌、レゲエっぽい歌が好きだった。白人のおじさんなのだけど、「黒っぽい」歌い方をする人で、なぜかいつもスーツ姿。
まずはご冥福をお祈りしたい。
ロバートパーマーは数年前にディズニータウンかなにかでアウトドアステージで歌ってて、しかしその内容はAddicted to Loveのさびの部分を１５分繰り返す、ってな力の抜けたものだったとのこと。一世を風靡したアーティストが落ちぶれてるのを見るのは寂しいものです。
そういえば、昨年のクリスマスはTahoeで過ごしたのですが、Beach Boysのステージをやってましたよ。みんなアロハシャツで太鼓腹で額が広かった。

I agree. He was really into soul/R&B. I heard he is a great soul music collector, I don't doubt that. "Sneaking Sally Through the Alley" is a famous New Orleans R&B tune. You might want to compare his with my favorite Lee Dorsey's to see how Palmer interprited.

I downloaded "Sneaking..." on the iTunes Music Store. It's a cool song, but they didn't have the Lee Dorsey version there so I can't compare them like you suggested...
My favorite Robert Palmer songs are: "Doctor, Doctor", "No Not Much", "Every Kinda People", "Simply Irresistible", and "Riptide". "Addicted to Love" is okay, but it kind of gets boring after a while.

“Man Smart, Woman Smarter” is another excellent interpretation by Palmer. I was so impressed that he used steel drums on this song.

My father have pobert parmer of CD.I heard he is nice! so I completely bacame his fun . His music really blacklish music . easy to acceptable !
I want to collect his record!
